This series of 19 essays represent the winners and honorable mentions from the African Essay contest on human rights abuses and corruption in Africa. It was run by the International Human Rights rt Festival's African Secretariat, and its President Wole Adedoyin. In Africa, the idea of human rights is a comparatively recent phenomenon. Contributing to the establishment of human rights system in Africa are the United Nations, international law and the African Union which have positively influenced the betterment of the human rights situation in the continent.
The anthology is a collective call to all stake-holders from the African Savannah to the cities of our Continent to team up and end injustice and violence against women. A gender-inclusive society is stronger than a gender-biased society. Women have a pivotal role to play in the development of the society and once they are excluded, the result is higher vulnerability and poverty levels which give birth to a frail and crumbling society.
The major aim of this anthology is to combat violence against women, using writing for sensitization and awareness. Also, the anthology aims at changing community attitudes to violence against women. This project is also an experimentation challenge given to members of the Nigerian Society of Campus Writers (NSCW) whose membership cuts across different universities, polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education.
This collection of twenty-eight breathtaking poems, five epic short stories and a series of beautiful illustrations on the Sudanese conflicts and war in general is one of the International Human Rights Art Movement’s contributions to advocate for human rights and social justice through use of the pen and other aspects of the creative arts, using passion and beauty as swords of justice and human rights protection.
Voices of Africa: A Call for Freedom is an exhibition of brave, candid, and militant voices, voices calling for freedom, freedom from autocracy, independent from manipulation, liberation from pseudo-revolutionary movements, corruption-oiled ideological imbeciles sniffing damning propaganda in political corridors, turning political seats and presidential castles into butchers and looting machines. This collection sends a powerful message to African political, economic, and cultural leadership. The Voices will sanitize the unrepentant legions we call leaders into morality and sanity. This anthology is a mix of multi-cultural African poetry of all regions and all ages super-powered by the solidarity of an inter- national breed.

At the end of 2020, IHRAF and the African Secretariat held the EndSARS Poetry Competition, to bring together creative voices fighting against police brutality in Nigeria. The slogan calls for the disbanding of Nigeria’s “Special Anti-Robbery Squad,” which is accused of many documented abuses. More than 100 submissions were received from all over Africa. This book collects some of the outstanding entries.
Agonies of the Displaced reveals the profound resilience of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the North West region of Cameroon. Through vivid and heartfelt stories, this book highlights the stark realities faced by those uprooted by the Anglophone Crisis, showing the severe disruption to their lives and communities.
