IHRAM Writivism laureate Mbizo Chirasha in Conversation Zimbabwean Media and Publicity Expert Tinashe Mandigi
MC: Who is Tinashe Boldness and how long have you been in the media fraternity?
Tinashe Mandigi: Thank you very much. Boldness is a young creative with a keen eye for inspiration and trends. I am in my final year of studying a degree in Multimedia Production at the University of Zimbabwe. It is during the course of my degree that I have been able to exercise my skills as volunteer radio presenter, news anchor and producer at Pachikomo Fm 98.6 and executing my academic assignments that I have developed a strong interest to pursue a career in the Entertainment industry.
MC: Do you practice conventional/traditional media or are you in the generation of digital/modern media?
Tinashe Mandigi: I practice conventional media and as a budding voice-over artist, I have been honing my skills through radio presenting podcasting and yes l rely mainly on digital media where I utilise social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc
MC: In your area of work , do you dwell on themes of gender , social and creative justice , if so , can you elaborate?
Tinashe Mandigi: Yes as an Inspirational Podcaster, l have designed an inspiration hub for all creatives as l envision my platform to amplify the voices and narratives of talented and gifted individuals from all walks of life regardless of their gender, social status and experience in their professions. My platform is inclusive because Inspiration can not be measured or scaled.
MC: Do you think there is freedom of expression in Zimbabwe?
Tinashe Mandigi: To some extent, there is freedom of expression in Zimbabwe, however my platform serves to publish authentic information with supporting evidence to cultivate a sense of engagement, motivate and inspire that if not biased with unlock potential for personal growth.
MC: Are you a published writer ,where are your stories published?
Tinashe Mandigi: I am not a published writer.
MC: How are media and media practitioners treated in Zimbabwe , What do you think should be improved or revised?
Tinashe Mandigi: In terms of media l strongly believe that this profession is dominated by individuals who possess a keen eye for trends and members of the public often perceive media practitioners as professionals who create, produce and disseminate information that shapes the public opinion, although they tend to face lace of enough resources which may hinder great impact their best practices. In this regard there is a need for more sponsorship to improve the quality of productions.
MC: Are you by any chance thinking of establishing a media company
Tinashe Mandigi: Absolutely, l envision expanding my brand through establishing a media company in the near future that will provide creatives with a safe space to amplify their own journeys and put Zimbabwean narratives on the global lime light.
MC: Have you ever won any awards , can you describe and list some of your accolades?
Tinashe Mandigi: No l have never won any awards but recently I have been appointed as the Public Relations Officer for the Girl Up University of Zimbabwe Club where we supported the menstrual hygiene of girls through raising awareness and educating and empowering young ladies with knowledge. I have also been appointed as the Media and Marketing Officer for MET Talks, a Leadership Organisation dedicated to Motivate, Enlighten and Transform leaders into becoming purpose driven giants of impact.
MC: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Tinashe Mandigi: In the next 5 years, l see my brand BOLDNESS expanding borders and the INSPIRATIONAL JOURNEYS PODCAST will be a sort after entertainment hub that will impact many lives.
Tinashe Mandingi, well known by my moniker name BOLDNESS. I am a dynamic final year media student at the University of Zimbabwe, with a keen eye for inspiration and a fervent passion for storytelling. I have started an entertainment platform for my Inspirational Journeys Podcast, designed to harness the power of creativity to uplift gifted and talented individuals whilst engaging, motivating and inspiring our audience to unlock their potential growth. Currently l serve as a volunteer radio presenter, news anchor and producer at Pachikomo Fm 98.6, the University of Zimbabwe's campus radio station where l am honing my skills in the Entertainment industry. Beyond my immediate pursuit of media, l am an aspiring inspirational coach, leader and magazine editor in the making. Above all, l continuously seek opportunities to empower myself and those around me.
