ActImprov with Katie Hutch: Activism through Improv

(Improv workshops: Monday, November 27 6:00-9:00pm & Wednesday, November 29 6:00-9:00pm; Presentation: Sunday, December 10, 2 pm).

At the intersection of improvisation and activism, there is ImprovisActivism! Activismprov. Impractivists? Well, whatever you call it, it’s a new and exciting space to explore! Through the core tenets of improv, whether for the first time or as a veteran improviser, we’ll dive into difficult topics with a “yes, and” spirit in hopes of inspiring dialogue over divide. Whether filled with grit or giggles, we’ll find new ways to connect and converse.

Hutch is an award-winning performer, writer and director who has directed and choreographed from Off-Broadway to on screen as well as produced dozens of live shows and digital shorts. She has previously been seen Off-Broadway in Frankenstein the Musical, Off off-Broadway in Super Crazy Funtime and Hungry, Hungry Games as well as winning Best Singer for NY SummerFest for the US premiere of A Word of Love. Hutch has been featured on improv, sketch and character teams at The Peoples Improv Theater and has been featured in dozens of film shorts including Mashable’s Good Day, Deathstar and U Need to Know This. Hutch recently starred as Abe Lincoln in the feature film Lincoln the Musical, a Hamilton parody mockumentary currently touring the festival circuit, and her newest one-woman show, Allergic to Being Alive: An Original Comedy Cabaret, is early in its run with an album coming soon.
